In this episode of our podcast, we had the honour to sit down with Mr R.P. Yadav. A man who started his journey by selling newspapers is now the founder of a 2000 Cr venture.
Our host, Mr Vivek Slaria, who is also a coach, interviewed Mr R.P. Yadav.
Mr Yadav is the founder of Genius Consultants Limited, one of the leading and pioneering players in the Human Resource Services space.
His company specialises in helping complanies with temporary staff placement. Genius Consultants, which Mr Yadav started at home, now has a presence across 15 cities.
Mr Yadav;s success didn’t happen overnight. in fact, he never even imagined that he would one day built an HR consultancy. But fate had different plans for him.
Being an employee for decades, Mr Yadav knew he needed something else. He understood what exactly he needed during one of his jobs. Due to sudden layoffs in the company he was working at, Mr Yadav was asked to build a new team.
It wasn’t an easy job but apparently he built a whole new, talently team within 10 days. During the process, he went through resumes, interviewed people, and did their onboarding.
This is when he felt that HR Consulting was something he could make big.
But he was new to all this and therefore needed guidance and some training. In order to attain that, he started working at an HR consulting firm on Sundays.
After a year and a half of laying the groundwork, he was ready to venture out on his own. Although people were not sure of why he would leave a well-paying job and start a new business but it was his wife that he never gave up.
Takeaways From Mr Yadav’s Journey
In his journey up till now as an entrepreneur in the service industry, people have been the crucial element. Over the years, he has understood the important of process, ethics, professionalism, and an attitude of service to the customer.
During the conversation, Mr Yadav gave everybody some astonishing takeaways from his journey:
- If people have standards, they will not always meet them. That is a failure, and it is inevitable.
- Having a growth mindset is essential because success means movement towards goals.
- Self-correcting is more important than not making mistakes.
- Problem-solving requires a holistic and positive approach.
These points can help any professional achieve his dreams.
As a provider of HR Services, and especially as a leader in his own successful company, Mr Yadav has a deep understanding of why employees leave a company.
According to him some people leave a company for the right reasons while others for wrong ones.
However, he has some leadership advice that can help an organisation retain its most valuable employees:
- The human resources culture of an organisation plays an important role in retaining people.
- By making sure that the senior management treats each team member right can also help companies not lose employees.
- In building executive presence, a manager should have an experience-based knowledge of the tasks he is managing. This allows him to be practical in what he is asking.
- Fairness is also very important, as mistakes are bound to happen because we are all human.
- Queries need to be clarified. therefore it is important that the managers are apporachable.
His leadership advice is that being understanding, reasonable, communicative, and approachable allows for a good manager.
Mr Yadav is of the thinking that one bad employee can cause damage to 10 good employees. This is the reason why even as a leader in a sizable company, he makes sure to touch base with every person who joins his company.
Advice For Job-Seekers
As a hiring specialist, his ideas are formed by years of experience in his field.
In the process of looking for jobs, one can learn a lot. Sometimes, it can take a fresher 3 or 4 job changes before they land a job that feels right to them.
A good job fit, according to Mr Yadav, compensates fairly, is in a growing organisation and allows you to grow in your skills and competencies as a person. Having a growth mindset helps.
A good job does not cause problems in your personal life.
Once you find a sweet spot on these terms, it is then important to make changes based only on a careful analysis of long-term impact.
Before we wrapped up the podcast, Mr Yadav had some parting thoughts to share.
Mr Yadav advices the working professionals to prioritise health. As he said, ‘Focusing on your health is important to building executive presence. Health allows you to stay useful to the people you are serving.’

Mr Yadav said that he has consciously tried to be healthy since he was young, and at 66, he retains a certain youthful potency to his persona. To him, health is connected to everything important in his life.
He credits his habit of waking up early, instilled when he used to deliver newspapers in his youth, for helping him stay healthy.
Balance and staying informed are essential to stay healthy. He tries to maintain holistic health by partaking in physical exercise, healthy eating, and getting proper rest.
Lastly, Mr Yadav left us with his thoughts on time management.
Time management connects to responsibility. There is always time if you prioritise. If you diligently stick to priorities, you can make time for everything you care about.
He left us with a reminder that human life is very precious and warrants being safeguarded through responsibility and self-discipline.
